WWE obviously needs to push new stars to the main event.World Wrestling Entertainment's key to success at this point, is to obviously push new stars. The older their main event guys get, the more they need to get the next class set and ready to take over the main event spots. WWE however, is not doing this. Vince McMahon complains that WWE for some reason can't make new stars, yet, they don't give any of these guys chances. Actually, I take that back, they give them chances, but only one or two, and then take it all away.
For instance, CM Punk and Jack Swagger are former World Heavyweight Champions. But they let them have the title, nit-pick at them, and then end up pushing them back down to upper-midcard, or lower.
Many of WWE's main eventers at this point, are either getting ready to retire, or contemplating it. Shawn Michael retired, Triple H and Undertaker can't be that far behind them, Edge seems to be unhappy and is talking about potentially retiring, and Batista left.
I compare it to the Attitude Era. Think about all the main eventers back then... Stone Cold, Rock, Triple H, Mankind, Undertaker, Kane...even Vince McMahon, Dude Love, and Shane McMahon for a while. And that's not mentioning Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart when they were there, Big Show, and Kurt Angle when he started coming in.
Although I won't say TNA is getting any kind of step up on WWE, but WWE seems to be treading water, and I'm not sure what they can do to fix it...I know what they can do to fix it, they just won't...
WWE needs to push new talent, and KEEP them there. But they won't. Like I mentioned before, CM Punk and Jack Swagger could be there, if they'd just give them a chance, and long enough to prove themselves. Other names that come to me, are The Miz, Sheamus (I know he's breaking into the main event, hopefully they keep him there), Wade Barrett, MVP, Daniel Bryan, and even Evan Bourne.
TNA was pushing new stars for a while. Seeing guys like Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Christian, among others, be pushed to main event status, was pretty neat. But lately, TNA has seemed to cool down on that, and instead, push the old time guys, like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam, Jeff Hardy, and others. Although some of those guys may not be classified as "old time guys", they've all been there, and aren't that new, and fresh. I mean, Rob Van Dam has had the same gimmick since about 1996, hasn't he?
I highly doubt WWE will ever die. But I think that they need to make some big changes, or we could potentially see a war between WWE and TNA, like WWF vs WCW...although, that would be great for the fans, and the business.
